During his first visit to Turkey in September 2006, John Chambers, President and CEO of Cisco Systems, highlighted the country's growing importance in emerging global markets by announcing that a significant investment initiative totaling up to USD 275 million over five years would be made here.

The USD 275 million investment is to be spread over a number of areas important to the country's growth: broadband connectivity, education, small-to-medium business acceleration, technological innovation, and localization, as well as an increase in the number of Cisco employees in Turkey.
